Beware of African or Nigerian Job Scam

hi i was hired in clear essence california spa and wellness resort in ikoyi lagos nigeria. It was under Bluefield associates inc in USA. The company will shoulder all the visa requirements and they will be the one to pay it. Can I work there since the travel ban has not yet lifted? Is lagos safe to work for filipino workers?

    thanks

    • naija pinoy says:

assuming the company pays for everything, should be okay.
ban will be lifted soon. so register at POEA.
yes, lagos is safe, contrary to to what our hypocritical and ungrateful government agencies like dfa and poea says.

hello! Mga Kabayan, just need an advice regarding the job offer from nigeria. i was offered to join by one oil & gas company in nigeria. they have sent a contract offer, tapos yung visa application form. at yung OVERSEAS TRAVELERS INSURANCE POLICY CERTIFICATE(OTIP) which is 600USD daw at 200USD ang visa fee. and to be send thru western union. one thing na nkaka confuse is, my website ang company then i send an e-mail directly on their address and they replied that legitimate daw yung contract. the offer was so attractive which is nkakaconfuse. i am currently employed here in saudi arabia by one of the famous company here kaya i really need to make sure about this.

  4. Ken Libao says:

`Maraming Salamat sa Response mo “Naija Pinoy.” At akoy naliwanagan sa pag-aalinlangan ko. Anyway, mga Kabayan….. Does any one heard about the company named “Sterling Oil & Gas Limited?” the said company was based in PortHarcourt Riverstate Nigeria. Thanks uLit and more power sa site na ito……

  5. cagalli says:

I also received an e-mail from sterling oil informing me that I got the job. I also confirmed it with their online website and there was such a job offer for me. Kaso sa contract ito po ang sinasabi about the visa:

“New employed and recruited for STERLING OIL & GAS COMPANY(SOG) and not presently possessing a valid Residence, Work Permits, Visa shall be expected to personally incur all expenses as shall be related to the processing, procurement and acquisition of their necessary permits clearance papers with the IMMIGRATION LAWYER and shall be duly reimbursed and will be substantiated with receipts and the employer will reimburse the employee not later than Five (5) working days after submission of employee’s expense report and receipts.”

Legit po kaya ito? The job offer is kinda nice. lolz lolz…

    Thanks po ^__^

    1. If you are hired, the company will give you all the necessary documents (company profile, Business Permit, appointment letter, acceptance letter, DFA (in Abuja) authenticated contract, etc.) including the plane ticket which the company will provide para makapag-apply ka ng TWP or STR visa sa Nigerian Embassy sa Manila. You may contact the Nigerian Embassy in Makati for more details.
    2. Once you have all the necessary documents including the medical certificate, pwede ka nang mag-apply for visa sa Nigerian Embassy to be reimbursed later. But if the company can wire the expenses, much better.
    3. Processing will take 1 week to 1 month depending on the numbers of applicant and availability ng Consul.
    4. Once meron ka ng visa, you may apply for OEC sa POEA.
    5. At pag may OEC ka na, inform your company of your travel for them to arrange your pick-up and logistics.

There are OFWs based in PHC but they stayed in a heavily-secured compounds in GRA/INTELS where the other expats are also staying.

Before accepting any offer, ask where are you going to stay and post here so that we can advise you.

    • naija pinoy says:

and to add, the hiring company pays for everything and never ask you for any kind advance payment..

  7. gina aberia pacto says:

i was offered a job in lagos nigeria through a direct contact for a company named AL SAIDE BAROZ PROPERTY CONSULTING FIRM i would like to know if this company really exist. they are requiring me to pay a job insurance (company charge fee) of 5000usd. my contact works in chevron oil company. they are giving me two weeks to send the money through western union. they will be sending the job insurance certificate. please advise me the soonest. i have also a stable job here in the philippines but the offer is very tempting. please i need the result the soonest.

    • naija pinoy says:

      It’s a scam.

If you mean of “direct contact” as having received an unsolicited email from nowhere, it’s a scam.

If the so-called hiring company asks for advance payment for any kind of fees, it is a sure sign of scam.

Hiring companies in Nigeria do not ask for any advance payment. They are, in fact, the ones who will spend for all expenses you may incur. and they do not ask for job insurance fees.

Report it to POEA and NBI.

      Mag-ingat.

      • gina says:

thank you very much for the advice…. actually it was not an unsolicited email, i send my resume to them as ask by my contact

      • naija pinoy says:

  8. gina says:

maraming salamat kabayan, is there a possibility that anyone in your circle can verify if AL SAIDE BAROZ PROPERTY CONSULTING FIRM really exist in Nigeria particularly in Lagos or nearby cities? the name they gave me to send the money is OKOENE THOMAS, i would just like to know, so that i could vindicate myself for the betrayal….. pinay ini ano…. sabi nga lintik lang walang ganti…

    Hello Naija,

    Surulere, Lagos Nigeria

meron kasing offer sakin sa isang advertising but undecided pa ako what about cost of living?
more or les magkano ang expected expenses namin mag asawa with one 5 year old kid; what about school

    Ave

    • First says:

Google it out. It’s in the mainland of Lagos. It’s like Manila. Maraming planta at matao. Unlike sa Victoria Island, matao lang during weekdays like Makati Business District. Maraming Indians dito with their family and I think ok naman ang schooling sa mga kids. If you eat outside, medyo mahal. Ang 1pc. KFC chicken with regular fries kasi dito ay nasa NGN1K (Php300) na agad without drinks.

    Thanks a lot

    • Era ligtas says:

    To my kababayan,

Im thinking its similar to those job offers from Africa or Malaysia circulating on the net.

There was a certain Elliot Ibeih Head of Human Resources from Chevron Nigeria Limited which has contacted me through e-mail and send me “Brief interview” and “Contract Terms” documents offering work in the said company with a very tempting offer. There were many conditions that is included in the information sent to me but not asking any money (at least not yet). I just wanted to ask if this company is really existing? Do they really have hiring? Any help from your end is highly appreciated. Salamat po at more power….

    • naija pinoy says:

you can check chevron website and you can send email on their contact page. if recruiter starts asking for advance payment, it is a scam. if you did not send any application to chevron, then it is a scam. of you just receive an email about that job, it is a scam.

    • naija pinoy says:

SCAM YAN!

Marami pong salamat.

    • naija pinoy says:
